Born in 1882 at Hyde Park, New York now a national historic site, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States, was elected to an unprecedented third term in 1940. Roosevelt was elected President in November 1932, to the first of four terms, which spanned twelve years from March 4, 1933 to April 12, 1945. He was the only president to be elected four times. He brought hope as he promised prompt, vigorous action, and asserted in his Inaugural Address, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Franklin D Roosevelt later went on wheelchair but still he was looked firm.
