Blue Desert Egypt in Pictures
February 23rd, 2012Nature
The Blue Desert is not actually blue naturally. It’s an area in the Sinai Desert near the Red Sea resort of Dahab, with a number of rocks painted in blue. The blue color is symbol of peace and these rocks were marked blue in the 1980 following the Egyptian–Israeli Peace Treaty. Belgian artist Jean Verame was the painter of this master piece. The whole work took ten tons of paint donated by the United Nations.
